New Facebook Timeline Design Being Tested

by Jason Keath on Dec 20, 2012

Facebook is still testing a new Timeline design, reports ABC. The Timeline of personal profiles that is, not pages, at least as far as we know yet.

We saw a very similar new profile Timeline preview back in October, as reported by InsideFacebook.com.

“This is a new design Facebook is testing with a small percentage of people to make navigating timeline even easier,” a Facebook spokesperson told ABC News.

The changes on the new Timeline include:

  • Text tab links, removed thumbnail images
  • Subscribers now referred to as “followers”
  • Exact subscriber number now listed, no more rounding
  • New single column layout for all Timeline content, no more bouncing back left and right

There is a small amount of content in a smaller right column now, like friends’ photos, but the right column ends quickly in this new design.

Here is one of the InsideFacebook images:

Looks a lot better to me. The jumping back and forth between right and left column always seemed kind of wonky to me.

As long as they design with simplicity in mind I’ll be happy.
