#SoCruise Attendee SpotLight: George Junginger
Posted by richtucker in Connect on October 21st, 2010
Social Fresh Cruise is a special event because of it’s attendees. Leading up to the Social Fresh Cruise we will spotlight one of our cruisers each week. George Junginger is our first spotlight and he is the Co Founder of Group Story, the Social Photo Book. The photo book market currently assumes that no one else is involved in your memories. Regardless of how many people are on your sports team, on a trip with you, belong to your sorority, their technology focuses on one editor to tell the group’s story. It’s very similar to the high school yearbook - 800 kids attended the high school, but the yearbook is the narrative of one person. This traditional model never tells your story, even though you were an important part of the group.
Group Story focuses on user generated content from a Group or community and then allows each member to customize the content so that it is meaningful to them. A group of people, a soccer team for example, uploads photos to a shared and private area. Each member has access to every photo and uses them to create pages of their memories, their experience as part of the group. The pages, just like the photos, are available to every member of the group. Each person picks and chooses only those pages they want in their customized book. The book can be shared online or professionally printed.
Before starting Group Story, George had another internet company, ultrasoundjobs.com. It was the recognized market leader in its industry and had 50,000 registered users in this highly specialized niche. That company was sold in March 2010.
George was also a facilitator for Startup Weekend in different cities in the United States in 2008 and 2009. The concept of Startup Weekend was to enhance community through the process of building a business over a weekend.
Why am I attending Social Fresh Cruise?
Quite simply, it’s the exposure to some of the best content in social media and the ability to interact offline with people facing the same challenges that I experience. It’s the collective wisdom of people in a room that provides solutions and pushes you to become better.

Social Fresh Cruise 2010 Update
Posted by richtucker in Enjoy on September 29th, 2010
This post is a quick update on the 2nd annual Social Fresh Social Media Cruise, departing New Orleans on December 2nd, 2010. Thanks to the success of Social Fresh Cruise 2009, we’ve already surpassed last year’s reservations with over 2 months before we set sail. We’re also excited to announce that Ted Murphy and IZEA have teamed up with Social Fresh Cruise as an official content partner! Social Fresh Cruise social media sessions are much more interactive than a typical conference. We want to take advantage of the fact that we are traveling with a group of 90 amazing attendees who have real world successes, failures, thoughts, and ideas that we can all learn from. As social media leaders, the Social Fresh attendees will play a major role in contributing to the conversation during the sessions.
By combining the social aspects of a cruise vacation with interactive social media sessions, the Social Fresh Cruise attendees get an opportunity to build life-long relationship with others who are equally as passionate about the future of the Social Web. Our goal is for the Social Fresh Cruise sessions’ topics to spark thoughts and conversation that will last well beyond the cruise. I’m excited to announce a partial list of topics and session leaders:

Social Fresh Cruise 2010
Posted by richtucker in Attend on January 11th, 2010
We’re excited to announce Social Fresh Cruise 2010 location, ship, itinerary, and session plans.
The Social Fresh Cruise 2010 will depart from New Orleans, LA on December 2, 2010. We will be on the Carnival Triumph headed to Cozumel, MX. The key to the success of the 2009 Social Fresh Cruise was our awesome list of attendees. We look forward to welcoming most of them back in 2010. We plan on keeping the event intimate while increasing the number of attendees through invitations to Social Media Insiders. Do you have an Invite Code? Reserve your spot now!
Social Fresh Cruise is one of the most unique social media events of the year. Leaders in social media preach the importance of taking online connections offline as one of the keys to building the strongest networks. The one hour interactions at conferences are nice, but sharing a once in a lifetime experience traveling together is unmatched in creating life-long friendships. Make 2010 the year that you deepen your online relationships! The key to Social Fresh Cruise is our attendees. In 2009, Social Fresh Cruise proved to be an opportunity for Social Media Insiders to getaway, relax, and unplug with others who were equally as a passionate about the future of social media. Although the popularity and awareness of Social Fresh Cruise has grown tremendously since last year, we will keep the number of attendees manageable to keep the intimacy of the of the event.
Social Fresh Cruise Sessions:
Many of the 2009 Social Fresh Cruise attendees felt like they could learn more from each other and enjoyed the interactive discussions. Plus, most of the attendees are presenters at Social Media Conferences throughout the year and they felt like we could offer a more unique experience from the Social Fresh Cruise Sessions. We loved the feedback, so the 2010 sessions will include facilitated roundtable discussions lead by subject matter experts, and some highly interactive presenters. Social Media is about the conversation, instead of all the sessions being one speaker pushing information, Social Fresh Cruise aims to be more collaborative and interactive.
Bon Voyage Tweetup.
In 2009, one of the highlights was meeting the Miami Social Media Community at the Bon Voyage Party. This year there will be a Bon Voyage Tweetup in New Orleans on 12.1.10, so that we can meet the New Orleans Social Media Community in person.
