FAQ

Where does the cruise leave from and where will it go?

The cruise leaves from New Orleans, spends an evening and full day at sea, arrives at Cozumel, Mexico, and then a full day back at sea.

How much does it cost?

Interior Cabin: $441 per person
Oceanview Cabin: $491 per person
Balcony Cabin: $581 per person

What is included in the Price?

All of your meals on the Carnival Triumph are included. Some of the best networking opportunities of the year, a Private Cocktail Party, a Private Beach Party at Carlos & Charlies, and entertainment on the ship. 8 hours of fresh advanced Social Media Conference Style Sessions. Gratuities and optional travel insurance is not included in the price.

Is this a conference? What will I learn?

Yes and no. We want to enable high level discussions and industry insiders getting to know each other personally. 80% of the event is social in nature, meaning no structured sessions or Social Media content. 20% is planned for sessions, 4 hours the second day and 4 hours the 4th day. The feedback we received from the 2009 attendees was that they wanted a more unique experience from the sessions due to everyone attending so many conferences throughout the year.  So this year, we will utilize most of the sessions to plan a social media campaign/strategy for a Charity.  We will also have breakout roundtable discussions, and a keynote speaker.  Social Fresh Cruise will not be your typical conference fare.

I do not have a roommate; can you match me with someone?

Yes we can. Email us for more details.

Or you can reserve a full 2 person cabin for yourself only, for the below rates:

2 Person Interior Cabin for 1 person: $812 total
2 Person Oceanview Cabin for 1 person: $902 total
2 Person Balcony Cabin for 1 person: $1082 total

Why is it invite only?

We have limited space on the cruise, 100 cabins to start. The invite only decision was made not to exclude certain people, but to make sure we have a large group of Social Media thought leaders to add as much quality to the event as possible. We are considering opening up registration after a certain number of attendees register.

This cruise is designed to reproduce the best conversations and discussions that happen at tech conferences during the unplanned parties or in between sessions. We want to bring together some of the best thinkers and leaders in the industry, in one of the most relaxed settings available, and leave much of the time unstructured.

If you have not gotten an invite, but feel you have something to add to the event, just shoot us an email and sell us a little on why you’re such a big deal. Name dropping, shameless self promotion, taking creative license and generous hyperbole are strongly encouraged.

When do my Flights need to Arrive and Depart?

On December 2, 2010, the day the Cruise Departs New Orleans, you need your flight to arrive at MSY before 12:30 PM.  We recommend you fly in on December 1st, 2010 so that you don’t miss the New Orleans Bon Voyage Tweetup (details to follow at a later date.)

On Monday, December 6th, 2009, the day the Cruise returns to New Orleans, your flights should depart from MSY after 12:15 PM.

For assistance with flights, please contact our CruiseDeals.com booking agent, Peggi Humelbaugh, at peggi@cruisedeals.com or call her at 800.668.6414 ext. 154

Do I need a passport?

It is not required but suggested. If you need to fly out of Cozumel for some reason, you will need a passport.

To board and leave the ship at different times, you will need a driver’s license and birth certificate at a minimum. If under the age of 16, just a birth certificate will suffice.

    Hi,
Lyell Petersen was going to get me an invite, if I was interested in attending the social media event of the year! But I did not get back to him in time because I needed to check my calendar. No commitments so far…
I am currently creating/maintaining and updating OSSN blog and just finished 1 hour webinar on using Social Media for your business. There have been so many requests that I will be doing the session again this month.
I find Social Media facinating and crave to learn more.
    Thank you.

    Hi Denise,

You should have the code now. I have heard about some of the work you are doing with Social Media in the Travel Industry. I look forward to connecting with you on the Cruise!
